We are always looking for talented/aspiring support staff to join our team and help us deliver high-quality education to learners.In Custody Tutor Leeds Permanent | Full-time Salary: Up to £27,500 per annumMake a Positive Difference Where It Matters MostReed Further Education proud to be working with a training provider aiming to make meaningful change through their Justice Services Team, and we’re now looking for a Trainer – In Custody to support the Creating Future Opportunities (CFO) Evolution Programme at a HMP in West YorkshireThis is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with individuals in custody, helping them prepare for release, build confidence, and create sustainable futures. Through structured group delivery and one-to-one support, you’ll play a vital role in reducing reoffending and supporting rehabilitation.The RoleAs a Trainer, you will deliver a structured six-week programme to small groups, alongside tailored one-to-one interventions. You’ll work closely with prison staff, peer mentors, and fellow facilitators to create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver engaging and impactful group sessions covering: Goal settingSocial interactionCoping with changeHealthy relationshipsComplete comprehensive initial assessments and enrol participants onto internal systemsDevelop personalised action plans aligned to individual needs and goalsProvide one-to-one support to review progress and remove barriersBuild strong, non-judgemental relationships with participantsManage a caseload while balancing group delivery, admin, and follow-upsMaintain accurate and timely records using IT systemsMonitor progress through clear objectives and ongoing engagementWork in line with the Health & Safety at Work Act and Uphold safeguarding responsibilities at all timesAbout YouYou’ll be passionate about supporting people to change their lives and confident working in a custodial environment.You’ll bring:Proven experience delivering structured group sessionsStrong communication skills and the ability to motivate and build trustExperience working with offenders or marginalised groups (justice, training, or counselling environments)An understanding of safeguarding principlesConfidence using digital systems for case management and reportingInsight into rehabilitation challenges and barriers faced in custodyComfort working to targets and performance indicatorsFamiliarity with prison environments and custodial culture (desirable)Skills & AttributesProfessional, approachable, and values-drivenHighly organised with strong time management skillsAble to work independently and collaboratively in complex environmentsKnowledge of education, training, and employment pathwaysCreative and adaptable delivery styleCommitted to continuous learning and sharing best practiceAll candidates who register with Reed Further Education will have 2 years’ referencing taken up and will be required to have a DBS check completed. All offers are conditional upon satisfactory background checks.
