1:1 Teaching Assistant (ASD) - Primary School, Sefton (ASAP Start) A supportive primary school in Sefton is seeking a compassionate and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work closely with a pupil diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role requires patience, consistency, and a genuine commitment to helping the child thrive both academically and emotionally. Immediate start available. Role Responsibilities Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with ASD, helping them access learning throughout the school day.Assist with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction needs.Follow structured routines and use tailored strategies to support engagement.Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to implement personalised support plans.Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.Support the child during transitions and unstructured times. Experience Needed Experience working with children in a school or childcare environment.Experience supporting children with SEN, especially autism or communication needs, is highly desirable. Confidence using visual supports, routine-based strategies, or de-escalation techniques (advantageous).Strong communication skills and a calm, nurturing approach. Qualifications Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., CACHE/NCFE). GCSE English & Maths (or equivalent). Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain). Ideal Candidate You will be: Patient, empathetic and able to build trust with the pupil.Consistent, reliable and able to follow individual learning and behaviour plans.Able to work collaboratively with staff and communicate effectively with parents.Passionate about supporting children with additional needs to achieve their potential.
