This role does not offer sponsorship.About the RoleWe are looking for a dynamic English Subject Lead to drive excellence across our English curriculum and play a pivotal role in shaping teaching and learning within the school. Working closely with the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, and wider leadership team, you will champion high standards, innovative practice, and outstanding outcomes for students.In this key role, you will lead curriculum development, mentor and support colleagues, and model exemplary teaching, helping to create a learning environment where students are engaged, challenged, and inspired by English.What You’ll DoLead the development and delivery of the English curriculum, ensuring high-quality teaching and learningModel outstanding teaching and support staff through coaching, demonstration lessons, and guidanceMentor and develop new staff, including NQTs and colleagues taking on new responsibilitiesAssist teachers with planning, assessment, target-setting, and effective use of dataConduct classroom observations and contribute to performance management processesStay up-to-date with best practice in English education and share expertise across the departmentOversee departmental operations, including weekly meetings, reviews, and documentationAbout YouWe’re looking for someone who is:Qualified: UK QTS or equivalent, with a relevant degreeExperienced: Strong understanding of SEN, including ASC, learning difficulties, and complex needsCompassionate & Resilient: Able to build trusting relationships with pupils who may have faced significant challengesLeadership experience, ideally as a subject lead or in curriculum developmentExcellent communication and collaboration skillsCommitted to raising standards, inspiring pupils, and supporting colleaguesApplication GuidanceAs part of your application, please include a supporting statement addressing the following:About you – Tell us a little about yourself and explain why you are interested in this position.Suitability – Referring to the job description, explain why you consider yourself suitable for the post.Skills & experience – Include relevant skills, experience, and how you would contribute to the role if appointed.About Bluebank SchoolBluebank School is a brand-new Acorn Education school in Chesterfield, supporting pupils with SEMH and complex needs.
