What's the role? The Civil Engineering Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, delivery, and close-out of civil engineering projects across Scotland. The role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual, technical, and regulatory requirements.Working Conditions - Hybrid role spent between site and Aviemore main office dependant on workload. Monday - Friday. 40 contractual hours per week. Travel across Scotland may be required.Key Responsibilities:Project Delivery & Management Manage civil engineering projects from pre-construction through to completionDevelop and manage project programmes, budgets, and resource plansCoordinate design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activitiesMonitor progress and performance against programme and cost targets Health, Safety & Environmental Management Ensure compliance with statutory legislation including the CDM Regulations and Health & Safety at Work Act, and Company HSEQ policies and proceduresPromote a strong safety culture across all project activitiesIdentify and manage riskEnsure environmental and sustainability requirements are met Quality Ensure compliance with Company Quality proceduresEnsure compliance with Client objectives and project specifications Commercial & Contract Management Identify and manage changeIdentify and manage riskSupport the Commercial Team with the followingManaging contracts (commonly NEC, JCT, or bespoke public-sector contracts)Controlling project costs, cash flow, and forecastingManaging variations, change control, and risk registersValuations, final accounts, and dispute avoidance Stakeholder & Client Management Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, subcontractors, and statutory bodiesLiaise with local authorities, Transport Scotland, utilities, and landowners where requiredChair and attend progress, technical, and commercial meetings Team Leadership Lead and support construction managers, engineers, and project teamsEnsure clear communication of project objectives and expectationsMentor junior staff and contribute to skills development Reporting & Governance Prepare regular progress, cost, and risk reports, in conjunction with the Commercial Team for senior management and clientsEnsure accurate project documentation and records are maintainedSupport audits and governance requirement What we’re looking for: Essential Proven experience as a Project Manager on civil engineering projectsStrong knowledge of civil engineering construction methodsGood understanding of UK construction legislation and H&S requirementsExperience managing programmes, budgets, and multidisciplinary teamsExcellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skillsAbility to read, understand and follow ContractsFull UK driving licence Ability to travel throughout Scotland which will require working away from home for short spellsSMSTS Desirable Experience delivering projects in Scotland or for public-sector clientsStrong working knowledge of NEC contractsExperience in stakeholder-heavy environments (local authorities, utilities, Transport Scotland) What's in it for you?
