Court of Protection Solicitor – Halifax Are you an experienced Court of Protection Solicitor with a genuine passion for health and welfare law? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a highly respected, nationally recognised Court of Protection team. This role offers the chance to work alongside nationally appointed specialists while further developing your expertise in one of the most challenging and rewarding areas of mental capacity law.The expanding Court of Protection team includes a Panel Deputy and an Accredited Legal Representative and is widely recognised for its commitment to protecting the rights of vulnerable individuals. Owing to sustained growth and increasing demand, the team is now seeking a dedicated and experienced Solicitor to manage a diverse caseload of health and welfare matters under the Mental Capacity Act 2005.This position is well suited to a Solicitor looking to take the next step in their career, as well as to a senior practitioner seeking a leadership opportunity, with genuine scope to progress into managing the team for the right candidate.Key Responsibilities: Managing a varied caseload of health and welfare Court of Protection matters, including s.21A and s.16 applicationsMeeting clients, taking instructions, preparing cases and undertaking in-depth legal researchDrafting applications, statements and other court documents, with advocacy responsibilities where appropriateEnsuring compliance with all file management, regulatory and procedural requirementsSupporting the Head of Department and contributing to strategic planning and service developmentDeveloping and maintaining professional relationships and assisting with business development initiativesWorking sensitively and compassionately with vulnerable clients and their familiesMaintaining accurate time recording and billingImplementing feedback from file reviews to support continuous improvement Requirements: Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with a current practising certificateProven experience in Court of Protection health and welfare workStrong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and relevant case lawExperience with public and/or privately funded mattersAdvocacy experience advantageous but not essentialExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage a complex caseload with minimal supervisionStrong organisational, analytical and time management skillsProfessional and empathetic approach when working with vulnerable individualsInterest in business development and marketing is beneficial Why Apply?
