About the role Shape young minds by designing and teaching your own course that inspires curiosity and academic growth We're looking for enthusiastic tutors to deliver engaging courses to small groups of 9-12-year-olds during summer 2026. You'll design and teach your own curriculum across a 1-week course, creating a fun and inspiring classroom environment that sparks curiosity and ignites a love of learning. Dates Course dates between early July and mid August 2026 Pay details From £32 to £55 per hour Depends on subject expertise and teaching experience Additional benefits Enhanced DBS provided (if required) Accommodation and travel expenses not covered Working pattern 12 hours of lessons across 1 week Teaching takes place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 3 hourxs preparation allowance Reports to Academic Coordinator Main duties Design and deliver your own 1-week course: Prepare and deliver 12 interactive and engaging 1-hour lessons tailored to a class of up to twenty students aged either 9-10 or 11-12. Create an enthusiastic and supportive classroom atmosphere: Foster a fun, welcoming environment where students feel excited to participate, ask questions, and share their ideas. Spark curiosity and a love of learning: Introduce students to fascinating aspects of your subject through hands-on activities, discussions, and educational games. Expert classroom management: Guide a lively group of young learners with patience and energy, keeping students engaged and ensuring excellent behaviour. Write personalised reports: Compose Letters of Recommendation for your students, highlighting their participation, interests, and development during the course. Complete mandatory training: Familiarise yourself with company procedures, logistical requirements and safeguarding through our online induction. Stay attentive to student welfare: Monitor attendance and remain alert to student welfare and safeguarding, reporting any concerns to help keep students safe. About you You're passionate about your subject and bring creativity and flexibility to lesson planning, adapting to diverse learning styles and classroom dynamics. You're committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and can succeed, and you maintain a strong awareness of safeguarding to ensure a safe and supportive learning space for all young people. Essential Possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject. Experience teaching or working with children aged 9-12 in an academic setting. Interactive, engaging, and inclusive teaching practice. Friendly and professional communications with students and staff. Right to work in the UK (we cannot sponsor work visas for this role). Desirable Experience working with international students and non-native speakers. Experience working in academic summer schools. Experience designing your own syllabi and lesson plans. Working toward or already possess a PGCE or other teaching qualification. Oxford Summer Courses is committed to safeguarding and protecting children.
