Assistant Accountant | Banking | London Your new companyA UK-based financial institution that operates across the retail, commercial, and investment banking sectors. With a strong presence throughout the United Kingdom and international operations in select markets, the bank serves millions of customers ranging from individuals and small businesses to large corporations and institutions.Your new role The client is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join the team on a rolling basis (minimum 3 months). Key responsibilities include:Assist with the preparation of the statutory accounts for FRS102 financial statements for UK legal entities, including gathering support and working calculationsLiaise with the external auditors, PWC, at interim and final audit and answer audit queries, provide evidenceMonitoring balance sheet reconciliations and undertaking investigative work to provide commentary on variances and identify issues when they arise.Month-end tasks including prepayments, accruals, depreciation calculations & journals.Assist with refreshing processes to reflect accounting system change from SmartStream to Workday in early 2026Assist with preparation of management reporting packsAssist with climate reporting for the corporate entities and address data audit queries.Other ad hoc tasksWhat you'll need to succeed Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA, with proven experience working in a banking environmentKnowledge and understanding of Financial Services/banking processes.Strong numeracy skills and understanding of financial statementsStrong communication skills (written and verbal)Must come from a financial services background.What you'll get in return • Working for a highly reputable financial services firm• Hybrid working• Competitive daily rate and possibility of extension of contractWhat you need to do nowIf you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.If this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career. # 4701011
