Head of Learning & Development | Elderly Nursing HomesLondonSalary: £70,000 - £80,000 + travel expenses Full time Remit Compass Associates is proud to be partnering with a respected elderly care home provider in the appointment of a Head of Learning and Development. With a well-established portfolio of homes, this organisation is committed to investing in its people and strengthening its position as an employer of choice within the care sector. This is a pivotal, senior leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering a progressive, company-wide learning strategy. You will cultivate a strong and consistent learning culture across the group, ensuring that training is engaging, high quality, and aligned to both regulatory expectations and wider business objectives. Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will lead and develop the training function, overseeing budgets, resources, funding streams and external partnerships. The role will balance strategic oversight with operational delivery, from designing innovative development pathways and succession plans, to ensuring mandatory training and compliance standards are effectively embedded across all services in line with CQC expectations. A key element of the position will involve strengthening apprenticeship provision, maximising levy utilisation, enhancing the Learning Management System, and exploring opportunities to expand funded and accredited programmes. You will work closely with Directors, Regional Teams and Home Managers to identify skills gaps, support underperforming services, and implement impactful development initiatives that drive quality, retention and engagement. The Candidate The successful candidate will be an experienced L&D leader, ideally from within elderly care or the wider health and social care sector. You will have a proven track record of building structured, scalable learning frameworks across multi-site organisations.You will be commercially astute, comfortable managing budgets and external providers, and confident operating at senior leadership level. Strong stakeholder engagement skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Requirements Proven experience in a senior Learning & Development leadership role.Background within elderly care or health and social care environments.Experience developing workforce strategies, leadership pathways and succession planning initiatives.Happy to travel across the South of England throughout the week.An adult learning qualification. Location This is a regional role predominantly covering the South of England and Midlands. You would need to be able to commute to areas such as Gloucester, Berkshire, London, Kent, Surrey, Herefordshire, and Derbyshire. Summary My client is seeking an experienced Head of Learning & Development who has experience in a similar capacity and is offering a salary between £70,000 - £80,000 + travel expenses.
