Conflicts & New Business Team Leader - International Law Firm Location: London (Hybrid)Role Type: Permanent We are working with a leading international law firm to recruit a Conflicts & New Business Team Leader for their London office. The Role This is a hands-on operational leadership position, responsible for managing a London-based team of Conflicts and AML Analysts, along with a New Business Team Administrator. Working closely with colleagues across the UK and EU, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of new business intake, conflicts clearance, and AML processes. Reporting to the Director of Conflicts, AML & Compliance (Europe & Middle East), you will act as a trusted escalation point, maintain high service standards, and ensure consistent policy application across client and matter intake. The role sits in a fast-paced, service-driven environment where excellent judgement, responsiveness, and strong stakeholder management skills are essential. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Operational Oversight Supervise a team of Analysts and an Administrator, setting clear daily/weekly objectivesAllocate and prioritise workloads to ensure timely delivery of conflicts checks, AML reviews, and matter openingsProvide day-to-day coaching and guidance on conflicts and AML policiesReview output for accuracy and escalate issues appropriatelyConduct regular 1:1s, support performance evaluations, and contribute to hiring and onboardingFoster a collaborative and professional team environment Delivery of Conflicts, AML & New Business Services Remain hands-on with live matters, especially where judgement or urgency is requiredOversee and conduct conflicts searches, reviewing results and managing escalationsLiaise with partners to obtain accurate instructions and manage conflict waiversReview and conduct AML due diligence and risk assessmentsManage new business forms, ensuring compliance and resolving queries efficiently Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration Explain policies clearly to partners and internal stakeholdersChallenge requests that fall outside firm policy where necessaryWork closely with adjacent teams to resolve operational issuesSupport training and contribute to departmental projects and policy improvements Candidate Profile Experience Degree or equivalent qualificationMinimum three years' experience in conflicts, compliance, or new business intakePrevious supervisory or team-leader experience (ideally within an international law firm)Working knowledge of conflicts systems (e.g., Intapp) and compliance screening toolsStrong Microsoft Office skills Skills & Competencies Strong understanding of conflicts, AML, and NBI processesExcellent organisational and prioritisation skillsStrong judgement and escalation awarenessClear and confident communication skillsHigh attention to detail and commitment to process consistencyAbility to work effectively in a confidential, team-oriented environment If you would like to discuss this role confidentially or explore whether it aligns with your experience and career goals, please feel free to get in touch.
