Locum Litigation Lawyer OpportunitiesRate: Highly competitive hourly ratesLocations: Remote, Hybrid and On-Site Opportunities Across the UKContract: Locum / Interim (short, medium and long-term assignments)I’m partnering with a number of Local Authorities and public bodies across the UK who are seeking experienced Litigation Lawyers to support busy in-house legal teams. These opportunities offer varied and challenging casework, flexible working arrangements and the chance to make a meaningful impact in public sector litigation.About the RoleYou will manage a broad contentious caseload, providing high-quality legal advice and representation. The role will involve both advisory and litigation work, including preparation of cases, drafting, negotiations and court appearances.Although many assignments offer hybrid or remote working, you will be required to attend the office when necessary for:InductionService or team meetingsHearings or court attendancesCase conferencesKey ResponsibilitiesYou will typically handle a varied litigation caseload which may include:Civil litigation claims (including small claims, fast-track and multi-track)Contract and commercial disputesPublic law matters and judicial reviewsHousing litigation (injunctions, disrepair, possession etc.)Anti-social behaviour and enforcementEducation litigationDebt recovery and financial litigationRegulatory and enforcement mattersComplex disclosure and evidence managementAdditional duties may include:Drafting pleadings, legal arguments, orders, and witness statementsConducting or preparing for advocacy in the County Court, Magistrates’ Court or High CourtProviding advice to internal clients and senior stakeholdersManaging urgent applications and time-sensitive mattersSupervising junior lawyers or paralegals, where requiredRequirementsTo be eligible, candidates should:Hold a valid practising certificate and be authorised to practise in England as a Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal ExecutivesHave demonstrable experience in civil, public law, housing or general litigationBe able to manage a varied contentious caseload with minimal supervisionWork effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlinesBe confident in providing clear, practical advice to non-legal stakeholdersHave advocacy experience, or a willingness to develop advocacy skillsIdeally have experience supervising or mentoring junior team membersWhat’s on OfferFlexible working arrangements (remote, hybrid or office-based roles)Competitive hourly ratesSupportive, well-structured legal teamsLong-term contract extension potentialDiverse casework that builds strong public sector litigation experienceAssignments are available across England, Scotland and Wales, ranging from generalist litigation roles to highly specialist contentious positions.Interested in Litigation Locum Roles?If you’d like to discuss current opportunities or upcoming roles in confidence, please get in touch with Sophie Clarke at Reed (Norwich) or send across your CV.
