Legal Counsel | Property & Housing | Hybrid | UK-basedWe’re partnering with a large, values-driven organisation operating at scale within the UK housing and property sector, to appoint a Legal Counsel into its established in-house legal team.This is a broad and impactful role offering the opportunity to deliver high-quality, customer-focused legal advice, manage a diverse caseload, and contribute strategically to organisational objectives. You’ll work closely with senior colleagues across the business, supervise others within the legal function, and play a hands-on role across asset management, shared ownership, tenancy management and property development matters.The roleAs Legal Counsel, you’ll deliver practical, solutions-focused legal advice while managing your own caseload and supporting the wider legal team. You’ll also have scope to influence processes, develop people, and help improve how legal services are delivered across the organisation.Key ResponsibilitiesCase ManagementHandle housing disrepair matters, including pre-action protocol claims, court cases, counterclaims, and settlement talks.Draft and review legal documents, witness statements, disclosure documents, expert instructions, and settlement agreements.Represent the organisation in County Court when needed, including at directions hearings, mediations, and settlement discussions.Work with external solicitors, counsel, and insurers when required.Leadership & Internal CooperationLead a small team of advisors handling housing disrepair cases.Work with Property Services teams to ensure timely instructions, accurate reports, and effective case resolutions.Help develop and improve internal policies, procedures and training.About YouYou're a qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificateExperience in Housing Law, Civil Litigation, or Disrepair work, with strong knowledge of Landlord and Tenant LawExcellent drafting, communication, and negotiation skillsAbility to balance legal risks with practical solutionsStrong organisational and case management skillsExperience supervising others and/or leading a small teamProven ability to manage a varied caseload independentlyExcellent communication, organisation and planning skillsWhy apply?Join a purpose-led organisation delivering real social impactWork within an experienced, supportive in-house legal teamEnjoy a role with breadth, autonomy and visibilityPlay a key part in shaping legal services, processes and outcomesBenefit from ongoing learning, development and career progressionIf you’re looking for an in-house role that combines technical challenge, leadership responsibility and meaningful outcomes, this is a compelling opportunity.Apply today or contact Sophie Clarke at Reed (Norwich) to find out more!
