AI Linguist - Indian Language SpeakerRemote - United KingdomUntil the end of December 2026£59,000-£66,000A leading global technology research organisation is seeking a Computational Linguist to support advanced research in multilingual AI and language technologies.You will join a highly respected research team working on projects involving machine translation, speech technologies (ASR/TTS), and large language models, contributing linguistic expertise to improve how AI systems understand and generate human language across multiple languages.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyse AI model outputs to identify linguistic error patterns and quality issuesPerform linguistic analysis on large multilingual datasetsDevelop annotation guidelines and evaluation frameworks for language AI systemsSupport research across machine translation, speech technologies and LLM-based translationConduct linguistic research, including typology, sociolinguistics and corpus analysisCollaborate closely with research scientists, engineers and language expertsRequirementsThird level qualification in Linguistics or a related fieldNative or near-native proficiency in Hindi or another major Indian language, with knowledge of Indo-Aryan or Dravidian languagesHindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Urdu, Marathi, Gujarati, any one or more of these languages.Strong theoretical grounding in syntax, morphology, sociolinguistics and language typologyProgramming skills in Python and the ability to work with data (SQL or similar)Exposure to Natural Language Processing or language AI systemsThis role will move fast, so apply today!
