GIZ Office Kazakhstan would like to announce a new vacant position in the capacity of Climate Change Advisor in the project “Climate Risk Management in Central Asia”.
The project “Climate Risk Management in Central Asia”, as a part of the German initiative “Green Central Asia”, is implemented by GIZ in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The project aims to improve transboundary climate risk management in the region by advising and supporting national partners, regional organizations, and local communities in uniting efforts to address transboundary climate risks and prepare for natural disasters.
Duty station: Astana, Kazakhstan

Обязанности:
- Steering and managing the implementation of project activities at the national level, including the elaboration of the yearly operation plan and the respective budget, supervision and monitoring of activities, provision of technical support, and overall reporting, in close collaboration with the programme manager
- Political communication with national and development partners in Kazakhstan
- Providing technical guidance and advice on matters such as climate risk management, adaptation and disaster risk reduction, and national contributions to regional project activities in these areas
- Administrative and organisational support to project activities.
- Supervision of and advising national and international experts/consultants during their respective assignments within the project
- Representation of the project at development partner meetings / bilateral meetings with international organizations and with staff / experts of other development projects
- Coordination of organisational and logistical arrangements of events, working groups, conferences, etc.
- MSc degree in the relevant field
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the fields of programme management, climate change, water and/or disaster risk reduction
- Experience in GIZ or other development agency highly desirable. Experience at the relevant government institutions would be an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Very good coordination, communication, and organizational skills
- Fluency in spoken and written Russian and English knowledge of Kazakh is highly desirable German skills would be an asset.
