The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, with a network of 192-member National Societies. The overall aim of IFRC is “to inspire, encourage, facilitate, and promote at all times all forms of humanitarian activities by National Societies with a view to preventing and alleviating human suffering and thereby contributing tothe maintenance and promotion of human dignity and peace in the world.” IFRC works to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people before, during and after disasters, health emergencies and other crises.

IFRC is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (Movement), together with its member National Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The work of IFRC is guided by the following fundamental principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality.

IFRC is led by its Secretary General, and has its Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The Headquarters are organized into three main Divisions: (i) National Society Development and Operations Coordination (ii) Global Relations, Humanitarian Diplomacy and Digitalization and (iii) Management Policy, Strategy and Corporate Services.IFRCUnder the supervision of the IFRC Corporate Services Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for providing support to the Russian Red Cross (RRC) in driving and maintaining office vehicle in Russian Federation as well abroad, if required. has five regional offices in Africa, Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, Europe, and the Americas. IFRC also has country cluster delegation and country delegations throughout the world. Together, the Geneva Headquarters and the field structure (regional, cluster and country) comprise the IFRC Secretariat.

The Russian Red Cross Society (RRCS) and the Belarus Red Cross Society (BRCS), members of the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Both are among the biggest domestic humanitarian organizations in the Russian Federation and in the Republic of Belarus, respectively.

The position is based in Moscow. The duration of current position is eighteen (18) months. This position will require extensive travels within Russia.

Job purpose:

Under the supervision of the IFRC Corporate Services Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for providing support to the Russian Red Cross (RRC) in driving and maintaining office vehicle in Russian Federation as well abroad, if required.

Обязанности:

Vehicle Operation

• Safely drive and maintain the Federation vehicles in a professional, conscientious and safe manner in accordance with Federation standards (Code of Conduct and Drivers Rules and Regulations).
• Ensure that the vehicle is checked daily and weekly (inspection reports) and ensures that the vehicle is in a proper functioning order.
• Performance of daily inspections according to the standard form for inspection for vehicle assigned or any other vehicles as instructed.
• Ensure proper documentation and maintenance up to date of logbook on movement mileage and fuel consumption.
• Transports staff and volunteers to different Russian Red Cross operation locations.
• Keeps a record of departure, arrival, mileage covered, and fuel consumed and other pertinent data records as per the internal control policy and procedure in place.
• Drives light vehicles to provide transport service to staff members and guests and to transport packages and other light loads as instructed.
• Keeps the motor vehicle in good running order and carries out minor breakdown maintenances and repairs.
• Always ensures that there is enough fuel in the tank and checks on the level of oil and water and does refilling as needed and replaces flat tires, spare parts and gets them repaired.

Compliance & Security

• Understand and obey all traffic laws and regulations in Russian Federation.
• At all times, be in possession of a valid driving license and make sure that the license is renewed when necessary.
• Responsible for the safety and security of passengers, vehicle and freight and image of the RRC and IFRC
• Ensure that all occupants (including driver) of the vehicle are wearing safety belts. Do not proceed with the vehicle until this is the case
• Ensure that always the assigned Federation vehicle is equipped with the correct tools and equipment (emergency kit, functioning jack and handle, fire extinguisher, tool kit, warning triangle, a spare wheel with a properly inflated tyre and an approved first aid kit).
• Report all accidents, or other incidents involving other vehicles or pedestrians, to the Logistics Officer/Security Officer
• Makes sure that the carloads are within permissible limit.
• Gets the motor vehicle washed, lubricated, inspected, and maintained regularly.
• Reports malfunctions or defects beyond his/her ability on the motor vehicle to superior for corrective actions.
• Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean, inside and outside, at all times and that the Federation stickers are visible.

Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities of the job as assigned by the RRC and IFRC CCD

Secondary education
Relevant post-secondary training or diploma

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in driving
Valid international driving licence (manual gears)
Previous experience working in a multi-cultural environment
Clean driving record
Previous experience within RCRC preferable
