Secondary Cover Supervisor – Stockport Location: Stockport Start Date: September 2025 Contract Type: Full-time (long-term temporary with permanent potential) Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15am – 3:30pm Pay: £95 - £120 per day, depending on experienceOverview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and confident Cover Supervisor to work within a high-achieving secondary school in the heart of Stockport. This school has a welcoming ethos and a well-structured behaviour policy, making it an ideal setting for both experienced support staff and graduates considering a career in education. You will be covering lessons across a variety of subjects in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.Key Responsibilities: Supervise pre-planned lessons across KS3 and KS4 in a range of subjects Ensure students remain on task and engaged in their learning Manage behaviour in line with school policy and escalate issues as necessary Provide feedback to the relevant subject teachers at the end of each lesson Maintain a calm and productive classroom environment Support school staff with duties as required (e.g., break/lunch cover) Who This Role is Ideal For: Graduates with an interest in teaching or education Individuals with experience in youth work, sports coaching or tutoring Experienced Teaching Assistants looking for progression Aspiring teachers seeking in-classroom experience before PGCE or teacher training What the School Offers: Clear behaviour systems and a supportive SLT Opportunities for CPD and progression into a teacher training route On-site parking and excellent transport links A welcoming, inclusive staff culture Essential Criteria: Strong communication and organisational skills Confidence managing a classroom environment Previous experience working with secondary-aged children (paid or voluntary) A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one) All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
