SEN Teacher (Core Subjects) Location: Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire Start Date: January / February 2026 Contract Type: Full-Time, Direct Contract with the SchoolGSL Education in Hull is looking for a dedicated SEN Teacher. You will work with learners aged 14–19. Students have a range of needs: SEMH, ASD, learning difficulties, and other complex challenges. This role is ideal for teachers who thrive in structured, therapeutic, and personalised learning environments.About the School The school supports young people who need tailored approaches to learning. Key Responsibilities Teach core subjects (English, Maths, Art) to 14–19 learners with SEN. Set, implement, and review targets in line with EHCP outcomes. Use trauma-informed and therapeutic strategies for behaviour and emotional support. Work closely with teaching assistants, behaviour teams, therapists, and external agencies. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or PGCE. Experience teaching SEN or SEMH learners. Alternative provision, specialist schools, or FE settings preferred. Understanding of SEMH and complex learner challenges. Confidence in de-escalation and positive behaviour strategies.
