Humanitarian Affairs Officer supports the Humanitarian Affairs Department’s head and team of advisers. This is an entry-level role supporting the department that helps shape and deliver ICRC’s humanitarian messages to Russian stakeholders in Moscow and at multilateral and regional platforms. The role also includes supporting the department build and maintain the Regional Delegation’s network of stakeholders, including government and wider circles.

Function description:

• Follows and analyses the general humanitarian and political environment in the Russian Federation associated with humanitarian affairs in Russia and globally.
• Helps to research and draft analysis, speeches, briefing files for meetings with government and diplomatic figures.
• Supports advisers in successful framing and delivery of ICRC’s humanitarian offers and asks to relevant decision-makers in Russia.
• Supports advisers in building and maintaining a strong network of stakeholders connected to humanitarian affairs, including government bodies, political circles, religious bodies, academia and think-tanks.
• Works with head of department and advisers to maintain team’s monitoring and evaluation tools, and on other tasks as needed.

Required skills:

• Proactive and flexible attitude, sense of initiative and openness to learn by doing.
• Strong interest in international relations, geopolitics and humanitarian field.
• Good research, writing and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
• At least 1-3 years of experience in political, diplomatic, humanitarian or another relevant field. Previous experience with government bodies or international organizations is an advantage.
• Higher education in political/social sciences, international relations, law, journalism or another relevant discipline.
• Native Russian language.
• Fluent spoken/written English. (The working language of the delegation is English, the working languages of the department are Russian and English.)
• Computer skills (proficiency in MS Office).

Terms and conditions:

• Full-time indefinite employment contract
• Monthly salary 130’000 RUB before taxes, 13th salary, medical insurance.
